ADHD

What is ADHD?
(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

ADHD, standing for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a unique neurodivergent trait that shapes the way individuals engage with their surroundings. It’s marked by variations in attention span, impulsivity, and energy levels. Embracing a neuro-affirming approach, we see ADHD not as a deficit, but as a distinct way of interacting with the world. Those with ADHD often bring extraordinary creativity, dynamism, and innovative thinking to the table.

We also acknowledge that those with diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD face a range of challenges in managing their daily life and obligations. We are here to assist with identifying treatments and management that meet your unique needs with an approach that integrates both lifestyle, diet, and medication options to create a holistic, individualised plan of care.

ADHD Assessments

Our ADHD assessments are recommended for children, adolescents and adults who (just to name a few examples):

  • Are not making the expected progress at school or work due to inattention, impulsivity or hyperactivity.
  • Notice these behaviours are impacting on the relationships in your life
  • Are struggling with learning new things, or concentration and focus
  • Notice episodes of big reactions to small events

Our ADHD assessments measure

Our ADHD assessments are designed to provide a clear diagnosis and to offer targeted treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each individual. We understand that the diagnosis of ADHD can be confusing and stressful, which is why we offer a brief report to help you understand your results and make a plan to move forward. We will also provide you with a school or work letter outlining the diagnosis and recommendations to help you navigate the next steps of making your classroom or workplace an inclusive environment.

Our standard assessment package includes a brief diagnosis and treatment letter. If you are wishing to apply for NDIS funding, a more in depth report is recommended. Our staff will book time for an in depth report when you first make your booking. If it is decided this isn’t needed, we will cancel the booking after your first session. We always prefer to book you in and ensure your place is reserved to reduce delays to progressing with supports.

Child/adolescent patients undertaking ADHD Assessment will receive:

  • Conners IV Assessment: This is an assessment to assess the symptoms of ADHD in children. It helps clinicians, parents, and teachers understand a child’s behaviour, emotions, and executive functioning. Please note this may mean you receive emails that look similar, however, they are intended to be completed by different parties for different perspectives.
