When receiving a new diagnosis, there may be supplements, payments or discounts you qualify for. We can’t guarantee approvals, but we can assist you in understanding what the common payments, benefits and discounts available are. We can also assist you in applying for many of these. See below for some common examples.
Companion Card
The Companion Card program is an Australian program for people with significant and permanent disabilities. If someone needs a companion to help them participate in community activities or go to venues, this card allows the companion to get in for free. This way, it’s more affordable for people with disabilities to enjoy community events, activities, and experiences- as they can have the support they need without buying a second ticket for their support person.
A companion could be a paid or unpaid support person, who is able to meet the needs of the individual at that venue.

Carer’s allowance vs Carer payment – what’s the difference?
Carer’s Allowance and Carer’s Payment are two forms of financial assistance provided by the Australian Government to individuals who take on a caring role. However, they serve different purposes and have different eligibility criteria:
Carer’s Allowance: This is a supplementary payment designed to provide financial assistance to a carer who provides daily care and attention to someone with a medical condition or disability but may not need constant care or supervision. Many carers in receipt of Carer Allowance work part-time or full-time, study or volunteer, and are still eligible for this payment. The annual figure amounts to around $4,500 per annum (including the supplement amount).
Carer’s Payment: This is an Income Support Payment designed to be a carer’s main source of income in recognition of their inability to undertake substantial employment, training, or study due to their caring role. This payment is generally paid in addition to Carer Allowance.
In summary, the Carer’s Allowance is a supplement to your normal income, while the Carer Payment is a replacement source of income. If you qualify for the Carer Payment, then you’ll also receive the Carer Allowance.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian program that provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life. This scheme is designed to be a main source of support, recognizing the need for substantial assistance due to disability.

We offer assistance to existing patients for NDIS access. The type of appointment required is dependent on where you are at in your journey with us.
To start the conversation regarding NDIS access support, please book a 60-minute appointment to allow your clinician to explore the process, any further assessments we may need to conduct and explore the level of detail required. Our clinicians are able to offer either concise or full functional capacity assessments to support your application depending on your circumstances. Just like you, report needs are unique to the person- this means we will need to discuss costs with you individually.
